Selfish Visit Talent Land 2018
We attended Talent Land, one of the largest innovation and entrepreneurship events in the country: it involved 30 attendees, 13 themed stages that were available 24 hours a day for 5 days.
interacts to share knowledge and strengthen its development.
This is the most important event based in Mexico, where talent, investors, recruiters and institutions meet to connect.
It took place from April 02nd to 06th at Expo Guadalajara. Based on our previous experience at similar events, we decided to register as early as possible, so we arrived at 8:30 AM and registered without any problems and incredibly quickly; in a matter of minutes we were registered, with our wristband and information booklet in hand.

Overall, the event was well organized, featured high-quality booths from the sponsors, and included very interesting conferences.
The event was divided both geographically and conceptually into six lands of talent:

Among the conferences we attended, the following stand out:
The Art of Entrepreneurship – Daniel Gómez

Kevin Mitnick
The famous ex-hacker, who was arrested multiple times for accessing more than 40 corporations just for fun, was last released in 2002 and has since dedicated his life to providing security consulting through his company, Mitnick Security.
“Calling me a hacker is like saying Pablo Escobar became a pharmacist,” he said. Mitnick during his lecture.
During his presentation, he confessed that his interest in exploring the world of computing began in childhood, as being a magic enthusiast led him to realize that the laws weren't so restrictive. At age 12, he ventured into the phreaking (intrusion into telephone networks)This activity allowed him to make free calls anywhere in the world by simply entering a five-digit code. It was from this experience that he learned the fundamentals of social engineering, a tool that enabled him to carry out his first cyberattacks, which he then demonstrated to all the attendees.
What kind of tech talent does Mexico need? – Christian Van Der Henst
The internet and technology have changed the rules of the game and the global economy. Today, nearly half of the world's most profitable and powerful companies are technology-based (Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Facebook, Samsung, etc.), making working for them extremely attractive and, at the same time, highly competitive. Talent is the currency in this industry, and demand far exceeds supply. What might seem like a major problem is actually a great opportunity for countries like Mexico. Christian urged attendees to create and develop these new technology profiles, capable of meeting this demand and transforming their economies in the coming years.
Sophia The Robot
Beakman's World
Although it's not his first time in Mexico, having him among the speakers gave the event an extra boost.
He shared his knowledge with the audience in a performance that simulated the activities he does on his show. Jokes and expressions of gratitude were a constant throughout his presentation, where he responded by saying that Mexico is a country full of talent.
The most surprising thing was the number of thank yous from the audience for Paul ZaloomThe actor who plays the character, who was surprised that he was so famous in Mexico and Latin America.
