Mercado Libre has launched two new initiatives to strengthen its logistics network: Parcel Agencies and Mercado Envíos Extra. Both complement the modern and innovative logistics network announced a year ago, which has allowed the country's leading e-commerce platform to reduce geographical barriers and achieve 24-hour delivery times nationwide, and even same-day delivery for Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey.

“We are proud that with these initiatives we are generating impact on different levels: we are bringing quality products closer to our users with speed and increasing economic activity in the regions where we operate. Today, we are enabling more than 3,000 people, including established SMEs and independent delivery drivers, to earn extra income by joining our logistics network,” commented David Geisen, CEO of Mercado Libre Mexico.

Mercado Libre's Package Agency network integrates over 1,000 small businesses nationwide, such as corner stores, stationery shops, and dry cleaners, among others, which are integral to the Mexican economy, daily life, and even the daily commutes of many Mexicans. Now, these small businesses are expanding the possibilities for Mercado Libre sellers and buyers to send, receive, or return packages through them. If a buyer isn't home, they can simply request that the package be sent to their trusted Mercado Libre Package Agency store for pickup at their convenience. Similarly, sellers can deliver their orders to multiple locations in their area at no additional cost.

The agencies are present in 13 states across the country: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Puebla, Querétaro, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Chihuahua, Sonora, Sinaloa, Baja California, and Baja California Sur. The goal by the end of the year is to achieve nationwide coverage with more than 1,800 locations.

On the other hand, Mercado Envíos Extra is a technological solution that integrates independent delivery drivers into Mercado Libre's logistics, so they can generate additional income by delivering packages with their own vehicle and with the flexibility to do so on the days they prefer, taking into account the delivery area and preferred routes.

“To date, Mercado Envíos Extra is already present in six cities across the country, and more than 1,200 independent delivery drivers are using the app. Our goal is to grow and reach a presence in more than 30 cities by the peak season of the year, which begins with Buen Fin,” explained Omar Ramírez, Logistics Director of Mercado Libre Mexico.
