When we design a user interface, we are fully aware that it is destined to change or evolve after a relatively short period of time.

It is very likely that almost all websites or applications of today will have little or no resemblance if they are looked at in 5 years.

However, we naturally strive to ensure our work is admired for a long time to come. We must aspire to design and build beautiful things that endure. And that doesn't mean the user interface can't evolve and adapt to new circumstances. It means it could still be reminiscent of the original design. We must strive to make that leap and aim for long-term solutions, because ultimately it will help improve our designs.

An example of good design in relation to future proof It's iOS, Apple's operating system for mobile devices. A decade after its creation, the interface design has barely changed.
